The Wild Dog 4x4 Kinetic Recovery Rope is designed to assist with the recovery of a bogged or stuck vehicle. During recovery, the rope stretches and stores kinetic energy generated by the moving recovery vehicle. This energy is then transferred progressively to the stuck vehicle, creating a smoother and more effective pull than a static recovery strap.
Professionally manufactured in South Africa, this kinetic rope can stretch by up to 35% under maximum load, helping to reduce sudden shock loads transferred to the vehicles, recovery points and occupants.
Select your required kinetic recovery rope from the side menu.
| Length | Tonnage | Part Number |
|---|---|---|
| 9 m | 8 ton | WDKR008009 |
| 9 m | 12 ton | WDKR012009 |
| 9 m | 15 ton | WDKR015009 |
When correctly rigged, the kinetic recovery rope helps distribute the recovery force more evenly. This may reduce stress on individual rated recovery points and minimise the risk of vehicle damage during difficult extractions.
As the recovery vehicle moves forward, the rope stretches and absorbs energy. The stored energy is then progressively released and transferred to the stuck vehicle, helping to extract it from sand, mud or other difficult terrain.
Kinetic recovery ropes can cause serious injury, death or property damage if used incorrectly. The rope’s elasticity can create extremely high forces and a dangerous slingshot effect if the rope, attachment points or connecting equipment fail.
All recovery points, soft shackles and other connectors must be correctly rated and suitable for the recovery load. Never use a tow ball, bumper or unrated attachment point for vehicle recovery.
Add 35% of the rope’s original length in the direction of pull and mark this point on the ground. The recovery vehicle must not travel beyond this marked distance during the pull.

The rope’s minimum breaking strength should be approximately four times the Gross Vehicle Mass (GVM) of the vehicle with which it is used. Select the rope according to the GVM of the lighter of the two vehicles involved in the recovery.
Only certified and correctly rated recovery equipment should be used.
Inspect the rope before every use for:
Do not use the rope if it is damaged or if its warning label is missing or unreadable.
After use, rinse the rope thoroughly with clean, fresh water and allow it to air-dry away from direct sunlight. Once completely dry, store it inside a recovery bag or box to protect it from sunlight, moisture and other environmental conditions.
The rope’s strength and stretch performance may be reduced when saturated with water.
