Heavy-Duty Kinetic Recovery Rope
The kinetic recovery rope converts the kinetic energy generated by the recovery vehicle into elastic potential energy. This stored energy is then transferred to the stuck vehicle, assisting with an effective and controlled recovery without requiring a winch.

Even Load Distribution
When correctly rigged with the supplied recovery bridle, the pulling force can be distributed more evenly between suitable rated recovery points. This helps reduce stress on individual recovery points and lowers the risk of chassis or frame damage during difficult recoveries.
Shock-Absorbing Performance
Under maximum load, the kinetic recovery rope can stretch by up to 35%. This elasticity reduces the harsh jerking action commonly experienced during vehicle recoveries, helping to limit stress on both the vehicles and their occupants.
Important Warning
Kinetic recovery ropes can cause serious injury, death or property damage if used incorrectly. The forces created through momentum and rope stretch can exceed the breaking limits of recovery points, connectors or the rope itself.
The elasticity of a kinetic rope can create a dangerous slingshot effect if any component fails. Always use correctly rated recovery equipment and follow safe recovery procedures. The manufacturer cannot be held responsible for injury or damage caused by incorrect use, unsuitable recovery points or damaged equipment.
Basic Principles for Using a Kinetic Rope
- Avoid placing yourself or your vehicle at unnecessary risk.
- The recovery vehicle should be of a similar weight to the stuck vehicle.
- Only use manufacturer-approved, rated recovery points that are connected directly to the vehicle’s chassis.
- Only use correctly rated connectors, such as suitable soft shackles.
- Never use a kinetic rope with a winch or as a winch-cable extension.
- Never tie knots in a kinetic rope.
- Never use a damaged kinetic rope.
- Add 35% of the rope’s length in the direction of pull and mark this point on the ground. The recovery vehicle must not exceed this distance during the pull.
- Keep all bystanders at least twice the rope’s length away from the recovery area.
- Never allow anyone to stand within the path of the recovery.
- Keep the rope clean and free from sand, dirt and grit.
Care and Maintenance
Wild Dog 4x4 recovery equipment is manufactured from premium-quality materials. However, the demanding nature of vehicle recovery can expose the equipment to severe wear, abrasion and accidental damage.
Inspect every component carefully before each use. Check for:
- Cuts or nicks
- Tears or fraying
- Abrasion
- Burns or melted areas
- Partially unwound sections
- Missing or illegible warning labels
Do not use any component that is damaged, cut, frayed, burned, melted, abraded, partially unwound or missing a clearly legible warning label.
After use, wash off any mud, sand or dirt, rinse the equipment with clean, fresh water and allow it to air-dry as soon as possible. Do not dry recovery equipment in direct sunlight.
Once completely dry, store all components inside the supplied Recovery Bag to protect them from weather and environmental damage.
Safety Recommendations
The minimum breaking strength of a recovery strap should be between two and three times the Gross Vehicle Mass (GVM), depending on the applicable equipment instructions and recovery conditions. Always ensure that the equipment is appropriately rated for the vehicles involved and follow the manufacturer’s stated load limits.

Use only certified, correctly rated recovery equipment during a vehicle recovery.
- Anyone intending to use recovery equipment should consider completing a nationally recognised four-wheel-drive training course or contacting a recognised four-wheel-drive club for comprehensive guidance.
- Recovery straps and kinetic ropes must not be used for lifting or conventional towing.
- Inspect all recovery equipment before use and confirm that it is undamaged and in safe working condition.
- The strength and stretch characteristics of recovery equipment may be reduced when saturated with water.
- Always place a suitable recovery damper, heavy bag or recovery blanket over the rope or strap to help reduce recoil if a component fails.
- Before attempting a recovery, passengers must:
- Exit the vehicles.
- Move as far away from the recovery area as safely possible.
- Never stand in the path of either vehicle or the recovery equipment.
- Confirm that all recovery points, shackles, bridles and ropes are correctly rated and securely attached before beginning the recovery.
- Communicate the recovery plan clearly to everyone involved before either vehicle moves.
